SCHLAFLIEDER
Mein Kleiner Lieber Yonahlein

This is an original lullaby that came to mind one night in February 2025, after we'd turned all the lights off and Yonah was on his night roost in his house and I was on the futon, in the room, beside him. I wanted to say "I Love You" in a way that would truly convey just how much and deeply I DO SO LOVE him and because, in my youth, hearing "Ich iebe dich" was more emotional than "I love you". My Grand-mother used to say "Ich liebe dich sieben. (I love you seven.) for some reason and seven was the most you could possibly love somebody. So, the lyric was just natural... but the repetition of "sieben" was to stress it and the melody some-what resembles the chirps and trills of some birds.
The melody just happened as I laid there, in the dark. I don't know why, but it stuck.
The original lyrics were quite simple:
"Ich, ich, ich, ich liebe, liebe dich.
Sieben, sieben, sieben und für immer, immer, du.
Ja, ja, ja, ja ich liebe, liebe dich.
Sieben, sieben, sieben und für immer, immer, du."
They continue to evolve even as this is posted, but they state the fact: This "Little Guy" is my "Heart-and-Soul", my "Herz-und-Seele", in the most literal sense, and I write the term hyphenated because he IS both and so much more. And he has ALL of my LOVE, AFFECTION, DEDICATION and DEVOTION.
It's become our "second to last" lullaby every night now.

A truly amateurish recording:
